Astellas is announcing a Scientist II, Translational Development opportunity at their Astellas Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) site in Westborough, MA.


We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team and contribute to and advance the development of cell therapy products. This individual will develop and optimize methods required for production, purification and identification of cell products.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates solid knowledge of cell biology principles and technical proficiency in research methods.
Develops strategy and technologies to perform experiments and analytical procedures, applying a wide variety of scientific principals and concepts.
Evaluates and defines appropriate approaches.
Contributes to developing and optimizing procedures required for new product scale-up.
Analyzes data, draws conclusions, writes technical reports and makes suggestions based on results of experiments.
Coordinates research efforts and makes key technical contributions.
May lead the design of multiple scientific research studies, including innovative techniques and methodologies.
Maintains accurate records such as notebooks, batch records and electronic entries.


BS with 10+, MS with 7+ or PhD with 3+ years of laboratory experience.
Scientific curiosity
Demonstrated knowledge of cell biology principles.
Impeccable aseptic techniques
Solid working knowledge of cell culture with adherent mammalian cell lines
Expert knowledge of routine molecular assays such as RNA isolation, PCR, immunostaining, flow cytometry, microscopy
Proven ability to efficiently learn new skills

Ability to maintain accurate records and effectively manage multiple projects
Experience with RNA seq data interpretation (bulk and/or single cell)
Substantial experience with primary cells
Experience with stem cells including pluripotent cells
Attention to detail
