Doc Wayne Youth Services is seeking to hire a Strategic Initiatives Manager for our Champions Network program. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Strategic Initiatives Manager will also work closely with The Champions Network Director; Champions Network Strategic Consultant; and Doc Wayne’s development team. The Strategic Initiatives Manager will initiate and cultivate relationships and partnerships globally to aid in fund development as well as brand awareness for The Champions Network and Doc Wayne. This relationship-focused team member will manage a variety of funding and business development opportunities in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), corporations, youth to professional sports, athletes, and support of training clients in collaborative philanthropic efforts. To support fund development and partnerships, the Strategic Initiatives Manager will also contribute to collateral including case studies for The Champions Network. The Strategic Initiatives Manager will be responsible for the functions outlined below. This position is for an entrepreneurial-minded individual with strong interpersonal skills, and who is passionate and ready to aid our organization and strengthen our impact on youth across the globe, while finding ways to support our efforts for long-term sustainability. This can be a remote position. Applications outside of Boston are encouraged. The salary range is $50,000-$62,500.

Essential Functions 

Partner Management:

  • Develop a list of specific markets that reflect The Champions Network client base
  • Reach out to targeted sports organizations to build connections for sponsorships and funds based on The Champions Network’s extended locations
  • Support partners in their own financial development with an emphasis on funding applications
  • Manage and support a list of Champions Network partnerships providing updates on services provided and future needs with the Champions Network Director, Champions Network Strategic Consultant, Deputy Director, and Chief Executive Officer
  • Document interactions with partners effectively
  • Ensure all partners represent Doc Wayne’s mission and values

Business Development and Operations:

  • Initiate and cultivate relationships and partnerships to aid in fund development and brand awareness
  • Represent Doc Wayne and The Champions Network in a variety of foundation, sponsors and client meetings
  • Support the The Champions Network Director, Deputy Director and Chief Executive Officer on business development efforts including but not limited to introductory meetings, research, outreach, networking, and marketing
  • Present Doc Wayne’s work at professional conferences, events, and meetings
  • Execute evaluations, such as case studies, of Champions Network programming for fundraising, external, and internal communication purposes. Partner effectively with stakeholders such as universities for evaluation purposes.
  • Collaborate with The Champions Network Director, Communications Coordinator, Development, and Clinical teams to seamlessly integrate data, communications materials, and related partnerships development projects
  • Stay up-to-date on the fields of sport-based youth development, mental health, sports and athletics, public health, and their intersections
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Supervise Champions Network staff and interns as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 2-4 years of marketing, communication, sales, or related work experience – mental health clinicians and positive youth development professionals with programmatic partnership development experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Personal and professional experience will be considered as a substitute to a 4-year or advanced degree in relevant fields such as Business, Communications, and Psychology.
  • Dynamic personality and genuine belief in Doc Wayne’s mission.
  • Cultural awareness and humility with an understanding of the way in which systems of oppression impact the mental health needs and various inequities of marginalized communities
  • Understanding of current and continued global social justice movements and political actions, particularly those that directly impact Doc Wayne youth and Champions Network partners
  • Sports and athletic coaching experience preferred
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, and a track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail
  • Willingness to grow and learn within the organization
  • Technological proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Drive, and webinar software
  • Ability to show initiative and flexibility, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally 1-2 times a month when public health recommendations allow.
  • Flexible with scheduling weekend or evening meetings and sporadic travel to engage with partners

Our typical process includes:

30-minute Zoom interview with members of the HR team
Additional 45 minute to 1-hour interviews with hiring managers or team members who are directly connected to the role, if applicable
CORI background check and reference check
Additional tasks may be assigned as part of the interview process
