The Role:

At Voltaiq, we help customers manage battery data from research labs, manufacturers, and field deployments around the world, and provide a suite of SaaS software tools to drive data-driven engineering of all types of batteries and battery-powered products. The Voltaiq Engineering team is expanding and we’re looking for a Director of Engineering to optimize engineering team productivity and provide mentoring and career development to individual team members. Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the technical execution of the Engineering team at Voltaiq
Set clear expectations for team members; liaise between your team and leadership to align expectations on deliverables and timelines
Promote and maintain a healthy and collaborative culture across the team and organization
Drive the hiring process for the engineering function as our team grows
Mentor and help to develop the skill set and career paths of engineering team members through new hire onboarding, regular feedback, 1:1s, reviews, and soft skills development
Define the scope, resources, and deliverables of engineering projects
Proactively identify and clear roadblocks for the Engineering team
Anticipate future technical needs for the product and proactively work solutions into the roadmap
Contribute to regular code reviews to ensure adherence to engineering best practices
Determine engineering best practices and promote them within the team and across Voltaiq
Qualifications:

Ability to lead and inspire in a hands-on fashion
3+ years of engineering management experience
5+ years of experience as a software engineer
Deep experience with Python and Django
Experience with scaling SQL databases, specifically Postgres is a plus
Experience with data storage and modeling
Experience with unit and integration testing
Comfort with accountability – you’ll be responsible for your team’s performance and the collaboration between your team and the larger company
High EQ – Much of your time will be spent understanding, working with, and taking care of people
Authorization to work in the United States, full time, is a precondition of employment
