The Assessor’s office has the responsibility to locate all taxable property in the County and to identify ownership, establish value, and apply all legal exemptions to the property. We are committed to establishing fair and accurate assessed property values and to providing excellent customer service to property owners and the public at large. Appraisers typically have a territory and are able to work independently, both in the office setting and in the field. Continuous learning affords the Appraiser the opportunity to advance through various residential, commercial, agricultural and other specialty areas.

Appraiser I is the entry-level class within the Appraiser series. Employees in this class receive substantial training initially (both on-the-job and classroom), and perform routine field work. As knowledge and skills are gained, employees advance to more independent and responsible valuation of property for assessment purposes.

Appraiser II is the full working level class within the Appraiser series. Employees in this class perform appraisals of average difficulty on all types of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. Appraiser II collects and analyzes data for appraisal and assessment of real property; and does other related work as required.
