The Director, Bids and Contracts, will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of bids and contracts for High School educational products. This role is crucial in driving High School revenue growth through the acquisition of contracts with school districts, state education departments, and other educational institutions. The Director will collaborate closely with sales, legal, marketing, treasury & Insurance, and technology teams to ensure that all bids are high quality, timely, competitive, compliant, and align with the company’s objectives.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Bid Strategy Development:Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for bids and contracts that align with the company’s revenue goals and market opportunities.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer requirements to create compelling bid proposals.
Identify potential risks in the bidding process and develop mitigation strategies.
Bid Management:
Oversee the end-to-end bid process, from initial opportunity identification through submission and post-bid follow-up.
Ensure that all bids are compliant with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, legal, finance, technology, treasury & insurance, and marketing, to gather input and ensure alignment on bid submissions.
Review and approve all bid documentation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and competitive pricing strategies.
Maintain detailed records of all contracts and related documents in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Team Leadership and Development:
Manage a high-performing team of bid managers and contract specialists.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for all bid and contract-related matters, both internally and externally.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry associations.
Performance Metrics and Reporting:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of bids and contracts.
Prepare regular reports on bid win rates, contract performance, and revenue impacts for senior management.
Use data-driven insights to continuously improve the bid process and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in bid management, contract negotiation, or a related field, with a focus on the education sector.
Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale bid submissions and securing multi-million-dollar contracts.
Strong understanding of the K-12 education market, particularly high school curriculum products and services.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Experience with CRM systems, bid management software, and contract management tools.
Experience demonstrating strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to educational contracts is highly desirable.

Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000/year

Exemption Status: Exempt

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to concentrate and multi-task for long periods of time in busy, noisy environment. Required to be in the office each week. Must be able to travel occasionally for meetings in our other offices and for National and Regional Sales meetings, as needed. Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week, as needed.

This is a hybrid role. 1-2 days a week are required in either the NYC or Austin, Texas office.  Ideal candidates will be located in or near the New York, New York or Austin, Texas areas.
