The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Acquisitions & Divestitures Program. Are you interested in a career in which you oversee the acquisition and sale of forestlands, commercial real estate, agricultural lands, and other land assets? Are you a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit? DNR is looking for an Assistant Division Manager to lead DNR’s real estate and land transactions services section. The section is responsible for buying, selling, and exchanging state trust lands to position land assets for creating revenue for trust beneficiaries for state, county, and other government services. This work includes budget development, agency-wide program management, and providing guidance and support for professional real-estate staff working to execute land transactions for trust asset management.
Responsibilities:
–Develops and manages budgets and land acquisition accounts totaling more than $100 million.
–Provides strategic and tactical direction to staff; shares strategies and program updates with supervisors, region, and divisional managers.
–Communicates program direction and objectives with partners and interested parties.
–Develops and supports legislative proposals; including responses to legislative proposals or direct queries by legislators, staff, or interested parties.
–Provides strategic and tactical direction to staff; shares strategies and program updates with supervisors, region, and divisional managers.
–Works with the Planning team, the Steering Committee, and the Uplands Deputy Supervisor on implementation of the Trust Land Performance Initiative.
Required Qualifications:
–A bachelor’s degree in business, natural resources, land use planning, real estate, or related field; AND five years of professional level experience in the Natural Resources, Land Use Planning, Real Estate, or related field;
OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
–An understanding of real estate markets, land transactions, land use planning, and the principles of land management.
–Experience developing and managing a budget.
–Ability to provide leadership and direct the activities of a diverse group of professional natural resource staff.
