Position Summary

KlearTrust’s requirements with respect to cloud services are highly demanding.  The company’s technology plan involves the integration of multiple commercial solutions to support varied business functions.  It requires interoperation with a variety of external data sources.  It requires that we manage and safeguard private healthcare data, according to HIPAA regulations.

Our Cloud Architect will lead our efforts to conceive, architect, and implement a cloud configuration that can support these requirements.

Essential Functions and Duties

Provide technical leadership in developing vision, strategy, architecture, and overall design for the KlearTrust cloud architecture
Implement our infrastructure as code, supporting infrastructure provisioning and configuration management across the product stack
Design and build code delivery pipelines that bake in quality and security and include robust monitoring, alerting and logging
Implement change management and release quality gates compliant with best practices and industry regulations
Support development, QA, and Dev-Ops teams, as they work to develop products that deliver reliability, availability & scalability
Work with security leadership and engineering to incorporate HIPAA-compliant security in our cloud-deployed applications
Evaluate new cloud products and vendor solutions and recommend the best end-to-end solutions
Assist in building a top-notch engineering and technology team

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required Education:

·         A degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving systems engineering (e.g., physics, mathematics, or biostatistics), or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Education:

·         AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Security, Advanced Networking, or other relevant cloud certifications.

·         Security certifications such as SANS/GIAC, CISSP, CISA, or CISM

Required Knowledge:

·         Knowledge of multiple programming languages such as Javascript, Scala, C#, Go, or Python.

·         Proficient knowledge of TCP/IP networking.

·         Knowledge of information security technologies, methodologies, and best practices.

Preferred Knowledge:

·         Knowledge of Terraform, Python, and Go

·         Understanding of the healthcare data model from the provider and payer perspective

·         Knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g. HL7, FHIR) and regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA).

Required Experience:

·         Eight plus (8+) years progressive experience in infrastructure management, CI/CD, database administration, and software development roles

·         Experience implementing infrastructure solutions supporting products that deploy into the cloud ecosystem using infrastructure as code.

·         Experience managing complex software build systems with CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins or CodeStar.

Preferred Experience:

·         Experience deploying and managing RDBMS, NoSQL, or Graph databases.

·         Experience with AWS networking (VPCs, Subnets, Availability Zone, Route 53, DNS, load balancing, transit gateways)

·         Experience delivering infrastructure and CI/CD solutions in the AWS cloud environment.

·         Experience designing, maintaining, and implementing security controls and technologies in the cloud environment.

·         Experience with audit and certification processes such as SOC2, HITRUST, or ISO27001

Required Skills:

·         Design and implementation of cloud configurations.

·         Management of CI/CD and code delivery pipelines.

·         Ability to manage and lead small teams, providing mentorship to more junior staff members.

·         Communication skills and personal credibility to gain consent and participation in architectural initiatives.

·         Ability to work with limited supervision in the design and implementation of technology architecture.

Preferred Skills:

·         Database management and administration skills.

·         Ability to design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Cloud Formation.

·         Strong presentation and communication skills, suitable for stakeholder and executive communications.

Physical requirements

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.  The employee occasionally lifts up to 20 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working conditions include a normal office setting.

Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times.   Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure optimum team performance.  Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations’ situations.  Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary.  Must be proactive in finding solutions.
